Grace Gardens

What We Do
Grace Gardens is a project we envision focusing on empowering individuals and families to grow, harvest, store, and prepare nutritious food. A ‘hand up’ versus a ‘handout’ moves one in the direction of self-sufficiency and sustainability. Although support will be given to people to create their own backyard garden we will also utilize a community garden hub to support relationship building and community collaboration.

We hope to have our first pilot in Northumberland Hills, Ontario and after demonstrating success, consider expanding to other areas in Ontario, particularly rural hidden poverty areas.

Our Accomplishments

  • Coordinated and hosted gatherings spring and summer of 2014 for children of the 4 H Club
  • Forging partnerships with local and provincial organizations experienced with food security and education
  • Completing proposal for Grace Gardens with the intention for the pilot to be launched in Northumberland Hills, Ontario
