Canadian botanist, biochemist and visionary Diana Beresford-Kroeger's startling insights into the hidden life of trees have already sparked a quiet revolution in how we understand our relationship to forests. Now, in a captivating account of how her life led her to these illuminating and crucial ideas, she shows us how forests can not only heal us but save the planet.

Please join us on October 19th to hear this remarkable author share her story and insights into why trees matter. Diana’s wisdom for why trees are a viable, achievable solution to climate change is inspiring and hopeful in these critical and heart-wrenching times of droughts, floods and fires. She’ll share the intricate ways in which the health and welfare of every living creature is connected to the global forest. Diana’s talk will be followed by a book signing.

Books including Diana’s new memoir, To Speak for the Trees: My Life’s Journey from Ancient Celtic Wisdom to a Healing Vision of the Forest will be available for sale at the venue by Another Story.


About Diana Berefsford-Kroeger

Diana is a world-recognized botanist, medical biochemist and author, whose work uniquely combines western scientific knowledge and the traditional concepts of the ancient world. Her books include The Sweetness of a Simple Life, The Global Forest, Arboretum Borealis, Arboretum America, Time Will Tell, and A Garden for Life. Among many honours, Beresford-Kroeger was elected as a fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society in 2011.

Her work has inspired artists and writers, as well as leading scientists. She is the author and presenter of a feature documentary, Call of the Forest, and is also at the heart of an upcoming three-part series airing on PBS called The Truth about Trees. Currently she is advocating on behalf of an ambitious global "bioplan" encouraging ordinary people to develop a new relationship with nature and join together to help restore the global forest.

Please join us on October 20th to see the the acclaimed documentary ‘Call of the Forest - The Forgotten Wisdom of Trees’ and hear directly from Diana about why trees matter and her new memoir, To Speak for the Trees: My Life’s Journey from Ancient Celtic Wisdom to a Healing Vision of the Forest. The screening and talk will be followed by a book signing at 6 PM.

About the Film
The science and enchantment of the global forest provides us with answers to modern dilemmas. ‘Call Of The Forest – The Forgotten Wisdom Of Trees’ is a film by Jeff McKay featuring scientist and acclaimed author Diana Beresford-Kroeger. The film follows Diana as she investigates our profound biological and spiritual connection to forests. Her global journey explores the science, folklore, and restoration challenges of this essential eco-system.

Beresford-Kroeger explores the most beautiful forests in the Northern Hemisphere from the sacred sugi and cedar forests of Japan to the great boreal forest of Canada. She shares the amazing stories behind the history and legacy of these ancient forests while also explaining the science of trees and the irreplaceable roles they play in protecting and feeding the planet.
