57 million primary school-age children are not in school. 31 million of them are girls.
If all students in low income countries left school with basic reading skills, 171 million people could be lifted out of poverty.
Some countries lose more than $1 billion/year by not educating girls to the same level as boys.
“If we are to teach real peace in this world, and if we are to carry on a real war against war, we shall have to begin with the children.” - Mohandas Gandhi
Education IS Hope
What We Do
Provide children and youth access to quality education in eastern Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. This is a country with dire challenges of starvation, disease, drought, political corruption and staggering inflation. Because of the extremely difficult situation there, most charities have withdrawn support.
Funds raised support education needs such as tuition, exam fees, supplies, uniforms and transportation aid.
- Created Education IS Hope project, supporting children and youth in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe
- Covered cost of tuition, exam fees, school supplies and uniforms from 2014 until 2019 for eighteen children and one adult for university
- Arranged purchase of bicycles, helmets & locks for youth to aid transportation to/from school
How You Can Help
This project supports children (to age 11) and youth (ages 12–20). For each child, we estimate we will need between $300 – $400 (Canadian$) for the coming term. For the youth, it is particularly challenging, since school costs are extraordinarily high for quality high school education which enables them to have the ability to apply to university. Donate Now
